Mentoring occurs when a person strategically enhances the professional life of someone else by fostering self-insight, identifying needed knowledge or expanding the other person’s perspectives. When mentoring occurs, the mentee learns something that otherwise would be acquired less thoroughly, more slowly or not at all.

Perrone-Ambrose Associates.

Perrone-Ambrose Associates, Inc. is a premiere mentoring firm whose mission is to support their clients in cultivating a mentoring culture within their organization. As with other organizations served by Perrone-Ambrose Associates, WICT Chicago, uses their expansive menu of programs, consulting services and mentoring products to launch, support and sustain their mentoring pairs.

Program Basics:

• Formal year long program runs from June to June
• Mentoring of one mentor and one mentee are assigned by the committee chairs
• Application deadline April 25, 2008. Must be a WICT-Chicago member to be eligible for Dana Thompson  Mentoring program.
• No cost to participate. Must volunteer time.
• Study materials provided by Perrone-Ambrose Assoicates
• Mentors are generally Directors and above
• Mentees are AE’s, Managers, Supervisors, etc….
• Mentoring groups meet face-to-face based upon availability and needs (every 4-6 weeks); one-on-one meeting encouraged on an individual basis

Program Overview

• Next program begins June 5, 2008
• The program usually consists of up to 25 mentors and mentees
• Each team will meet every 4-6 weeks for a face-to-face session. The mentee will determine the topics to be addressed.
• The scheduling of these sessions is up to the mentor and mentee, at their convenience.
• In addition to these meetings, the mentor will make themselves available for phone conversations.
• The program lasts a year with training at the beginning, middle and end for both mentors and mentees.
